Google has wreak havoc on popular lyrics website called rapgenius.com by removing it almost completely from search Results. Rap Genius tried a short cut which was discovered by Google and there they were obliterated from the popular search engine website. The site posted a message on Facebook asking bloggers to become affiliates asking them that if the bloggers promoted Rap Genius’s Google ranking by linking to its coverage of a new Justin Bieber album, Rap Genius would promote their blogs on social media. this event was posted by one of the blogger John Marbach, which was seen by Matt Cutts and his spam team and rest is the history.
Rap Genius has confessed to the blunder they made and now their founder has written an open letter apologizing to Google for the black hat seo and claimed this practice is very common in their industry and should be thoughly investigated as they are not only the culprits.
“We effed up, other lyrics sites are almost definitely doing worse stuff, and we’ll stop,” the team wrote. “We’d love for Google to take a closer look at the whole lyrics search landscape and see whether it can make changes that would improve lyric search results.”
